Health Coaching by Tina Leuthner
It’s rare for anyone to get an hour to explore their wellness goals with a trained professional. As an Integrative Nutrition* Health Coach, I create a supportive environment that enables you to articulate and achieve your goals. Throughout my education, I have been exposed to the most cutting-edge dietary theories and studied highly effective coaching techniques to help you find the right lifestyle that works best for you.
Most approaches to healthy eating dwell on calories, carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Instead of creating lists of restrictions and good and bad foods, I coach my clients to explore basic improvements and implement gradual changes during our work together. As these pieces accumulate, my clients find these changes collectively creating a much larger impact than they originally anticipated. We work on what they want to improve within the circumstances of their unique situation.
I was talking to a friend the other day and I asked her what she does to relax. She is such an amazing on the go mom who works and takes care of the family that I was curious what she does for herself. She thought for a moment and said nothing. I was shocked. She has so much on her plate. She then asked me what I do for relaxation and I thought about it. I told her that I love to take my dogs for walks, I love to work out, I love to talk with my friends, get a mani and pedi and my real " bad " thing I do is watch reality TV! I thought about this a lot as we are all so very busy in life and so often put our family's needs ahead of our own that it is so important to make sure you take a moment each day to do for yourself. It doesn't have to be a grand gesture but needs to be something that makes you happy and feel satisfied. Being a mom is hard work. It is amazing but still is hard. Take time to do something for yourself each day. You deserve to and self care is such a huge part of making your life balanced and healthy!
Every New Years Eve I always listen to my husband talk about what his resolutions are and he writes them down and keeps them in his wallet. I think that is amazing but this year I am trying to do small things to help create balance in my life. I am trying to do small things that will help me. As a mom I am always trying to help and do for someone else and so often I forget about nurturing myself. I am a work in progress just like all of us and sometimes we all need a little reminder to take better care of ourselves so we can keep doing what we do the best we can. So, this year my resolutions are small but I am really trying to stick with them everyday. Sometimes I find myself either being distracted or doing one more thing for someone else...UGH! Ok here goes!
Make one green smoothie a day. Make sure I use my favorite fruit and put in a scoop of Spirolina and Chorella and use Coconut water. I am trying to use more superfoods!
Take time to learn how to breath. Use a Meditation App on my phone to help guide me.
Go to Yoga one or two times a week. I need to focus on stretching and breathing as this is a good recovery for my body!
So as you can see...pretty basic but as with everyone we can all get so busy with our lives we push little things aside. I hope you can think of something you can do for yourself and it doesn't even need to be a New Years resolution! Be good to yourself...do little things for yourself...be kind to yourself!
